Our school mission is to:

Provide students with a supportive environment, which includes parents and the community, as they make the transition from elementary school to high school

Prepare students academically, personally, and socially for success in high school

Prepare students for independent and life-long learning, for setting individual goals, and for making positive choices.

We believe:

All students can learn.

Students learn best when they are engaged in challenging and appropriate learning focused on the core academic subjects of language arts, mathematics, science and social studies integrated with physical education and the fine arts.

Quality teachers are the single greatest predictor of student success.

The diversity and uniqueness of each student should be respected.

Students learn best when families value education, and teach their children to accept increasing responsibility for their own learning.

Quality education improves the quality of life for students, their families, and the community now and in the future.

I want to welcome you to our school and to our Graves Middle School website. We take great pride in our school and our students. At GMS we strive to prepare our students for high school and then college or a career track. In doing so we have a great balance of strong core classes alongside fun and exciting elective classes and programs. We offer additional sections of math and reading elective courses for those students who need extra academic support. We are diligent about maintaining a safe and orderly campus where students feel secure and appreciated.

GMS is a campus where students and adults get along and love to learn together. There is a pervasive feel of love and respect for students and for the learning process at GMS. Our 7th and 8th grade teachers serve to transition students from the elementary model of one teacher to a “single subject” secondary model that will effectively prepare them for high school and beyond. We also offer a comprehensive program for our GATE and EL students. We offer Honors and Academy classes and field trips and activities to help our students meet their personal and academic potential. We also have a notable special ed. program that serves the needs of all students in a firm and caring manner.
