🐾 GMS Family Reminders | October 12–16

Posted Date: 10/12/26 (09:00 AM)

Greetings Panther Families,

As we begin Parent Conference Week, we would like to share a few important reminders.

🍎 School Lunch During Minimum Days
Students will not attend school on Monday, October 12. From Tuesday through Friday, students will be dismissed at 1:27 PM.

Although our school day is shorter, students will still have their regular nutrition break and lunch period. We encourage students to enjoy their school lunch before dismissal. Our Food Services team will continue offering a variety of meal choices, including salad bar options.

📚 Parent Conferences | October 12–16
We encourage families to schedule an appointment with their child's Panther Time (homeroom) teacher to review progress reports, STAR360 Reading and Math results, and improvement goals.

Walk-in conferences with content-area teachers are also available, allowing families to discuss specific classes, academic progress, and concerns without an appointment. All conferences will take place in the Field House. We encourage students to attend alongside their families and take ownership of their learning.

🌎 Great California ShakeOut | Thursday, October 15
GMS will participate in the districtwide Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill beginning at 10:15 AM. Students and staff will practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On, followed by evacuation and emergency accountability procedures.

We encourage families to use this opportunity to discuss earthquake safety at home. Consider taking a few minutes together to:

  • Practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On and identify safe places in your home.
  • Create a family emergency plan that includes where to meet and how to communicate if separated.
  • Prepare an emergency supply kit with water, food, flashlights, medications, and other essentials.
  • Review emergency contacts and ensure your child's school emergency information is up to date.
Important Reminder: Families and visitors who are on campus during the drill will be asked to participate and follow staff directions. Please anticipate temporary interruptions to campus services and allow additional time. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we practice this important safety protocol. Our goal is to ensure that every Panther knows how to respond safely during an emergency, both at school and at home.

We practice today to stay safe tomorrow! 🐾 Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the safety, health, and academic success of our Panthers!
