AVID is an elective college-preparatory program that prepares students to attend a four-year college upon high school graduation.
Academic success in college-preparatory courses. Enrollment in college-preparatory courses throughout middle school and high school to ensure enrollment in a four-year college or university upon graduation.
When Students and Parents Agreed to participate in AVID . . .
You have to accepted enrollment in the AVID elective class, which will provide academic support. The AVID student wants to succeed, and understands that he/she must take individual responsibility for their own success. The AVID student has committed to remaining in the AVID elective class for at least one school year (two years is preferred). Finally, the AVID student understands that he/she will be allowed to remain in AVID only if he/she meets the student responsibilities listed above.
Infraction Management (daily basis)
Positive: Good grades, Student of the Month, participation in all school wide privileges, field trips, incentive programs, Mind the Red, Advisory etc.
Negative: Poor grades, lost of privileges, Friday detention with Mr. Martinez (prior notification will be given) loss of school-wide privileges
Note: Your child will be sent to Mr. Martinez’s office when all other corrective measures fail.
