We had a really good day. I can't believe we have done all of this in the last 24 hours. Yes, it was a challenge after not sleeping on the plane and arriving to rain this morning, but the rain didn't last long. We powered through and are at the hotel, ready for a good night's sleep. We are going to tour DC again in the morning. Our flight was delayed by 20 minutes, but the ride was fairly smooth. We landed early in the morning, got our bags, then headed to breakfast at IHOP. Our first tour stop was Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. It was a bit rainy, but we got to see the Washington mansion, the sheep and other animals, the slave burial ground, as well as the tomb of George and Martha Washington. We visited a cool, interactive museum that focuses on the life and politics of George Washington. Lunch was at Mount Vernon. First time with the debit cards went smoothly. (Yes, those are chili cheese fries.) We headed into Washington, D.C. proper to visit the Korean Memorial. Then it was off to The Capitol for a guided tour, including the Crypt, the Rotunda, and Statuary Hall. After that we visited the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. Dinner was at We the Pizza. I had the spicy Sicilian, and the BBQ chicken. We headed back to see the Vietnam Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. Once the sun went down it started to get chilly. We had finished our itinerary already, so we just checked into the hotel. Check in time will be 10:00 P.M. in their rooms. We have breakfast tomorrow at 7:00 A.M.
